Did you know that everything you put on your lips is ingested throughout the day? If you're putting on chemical-filled lip balms, lipstick/gloss multiple times a day, a lot of that is ending up in your gut. No.Thank.You. Here is a really simple DIY recipe that you can use to make sure you don't have to ingest chemicals all day long, and will also ensure that your lips are softer and more nourished than EVER BEFORE! You will need a little container. A small tin or tiny glass jar is best, and is the most eco-friendly option. Once you determine which container you want to use, you can adjust this recipe to fit it.
1 part Beeswax 4 parts Oil (olive, grapeseed, almond)* 1-2 drops of essential oil (optional) *Please do not use "vegetable oil" or similar as your oil component. Pure is key! Directions: Blend beeswax and oil together in a very small double boiler pot and melt over low-medium heat, stirring occasionally. Once all is melted, remove from heat and add in essential oil. Allow to cool slightly, but not once it begins to harden. (If it does begin to harden, put back onto low heat until it melts back down). Pour into container of your choice. Let sit for 30 minutes... ya, I know.. it's hard because you want to use it right away. But just let it sit there! :) *Please note - if you're using a glass container, please make sure glass is pre-warmed by placing jar in warm water. You may also want to let your blend cool as much as possible before pouring to avoid the container from breaking/cracking. WARNING: Most containers will become very hot once the mixture has been poured in. Please allow to sit and cool before touching. Blend should harden and be left in room temperate for 30 minutes or more before moving.
